Establecimiento Angirú S.R.L., a leading producer of organic and biodynamic yerba mate in Misiones, and Token Mithrandir S.A.S., an Argentinian platform specializing in the tokenization of real-world assets, have announced the first tokenization of organic yerba mate in Latin America, developed entirely on the Cardano blockchain.
The project marks a new paradigm for the Argentine agro-industry, combining certified traceability, alternative financing mechanisms, and real productive backing. In this initial stage, 1,500 kilograms of premium organic Atiguá yerba mate—produced under regenerative standards and naturally aged for more than two years—will be tokenized.
Each token represents an equivalent unit of physical yerba mate, allowing buyers anywhere in the world to pre-purchase the product with complete transparency, while producers gain access to early working capital without relying on traditional credit mechanisms.
Commercialization begins in December 2025, and delivery—either the physical product or its monetary equivalent at market price—is scheduled for January 2028.
Ulises Barreiro, CEO of Token Mithrandir S.A.S., emphasized:
